The Sharjah International Book Fair began 40 years ago in 1982 to realise the human-centric developmental vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to promote cultural understanding and exchange through books and reading.

Today, SIBF is the crown jewel of the emirate’s prodigious cultural movement and one of the top three book fairs in the world.

The 11-day fair not only offers its platform to people from various backgrounds and age groups to meet top authors, buy their favourite books and pick from extraordinary roster of a 1000+ cultural events, but is a strategic networking platform for publishing professionals, librarians, teachers and academics, authors, literary agents, artists and creatives from across the world.
