Verses and Threads – Embroidering the Words of Mahmoud Darwish

Join us for Verses and Threads, an artistic workshop that weaves together the power of poetry and the beauty of heritage. Participants will bring to life selected verses from the iconic Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, such as “Write down: I am an Arab” or “We have on this earth what makes life worth living”—through the timeless craft of traditional Palestinian embroidery.
Workshop Outcomes:
• Master the fundamentals of Palestinian embroidery.
• Transform poetic verses into imaginative visual designs.
Final Creation:
A personalised embroidered artwork featuring your chosen verse—a poetic keepsake that fuses the elegance of language with the soul of tradition.
This workshop bridges the worlds of literature and handicraft, offering participants a meaningful space to express the depth of Darwish’s words through artistic techniques passed down for generations.
All materials are provided for you to take home: an embroidery hoop, colourful cotton threads, needles, and a stitching pattern template.
