Heritage is Glory, Preserved for Future Generations

World Day for Audio-visual Heritage brings with it notable narratives to raise awareness on the importance of heritage and its transmission to future generations. Sharjah Museums Authority is organising an event titled “Heritage is Glory, Preserved for Future Generations” to celebrate World Day for Audio-visual Heritage on Thursday, 27 October 2022 from 04:00 to 10:00 pm at Hisn Khor Fakkan. This commemorative day was chosen by the UNESCO to raise awareness on the significance and preservation of recorded audio and visual documents. The event will feature live shows of old traditional crafts like oyster shucking, a folklore performace and a variety of heritage workshops presented by Sharjah Museums: Sharjah Maritime Museum, Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), Hisn Khor Fakkan, Sharjah Art Museum and Bait Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamad Al Qasimi, in addition to a panel discussion titled ‘’How To Preserve Heritage’’ with the participation of Mariam Al Zaabi – Curator of Bait Shiekh Saeed Bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Noura Ahmed Al Naqbi – Curator of Sharjah Heritage Museum and fine artist Shatha Al Tunaiji. The session discusses the experience of recreating old heritage pieces, emphasizing the role of audio-visual documents in preserving intangible heritage, how to preserve popular heritage, and the efforts made to protect it
