Within Sharjah Museum’s Authority (Because We Care) initiative and on the occasion of World Turtle Day, Sharjah Aquarium is organising the Turtle Release Initiative on 23 May 2023, to highlight the role of Sharjah Aquarium in spreading awareness in society about the importance of the marine environment and its creatures, in addition to the species of turtles that live on the UAE’s coasts and the role played by institutions to protect them. The event is in cooperation with Al Hamriya Municipality and will take place on Al Hamriya beach. A total of eight medium to large green turtles and hawksbill turtles ranging from 5 – 30 years old will be released into the sea. They were found in a bad condition and underwent rehabilitation but are now ready to be set free again.
