Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the Union and Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah and in support of his vision to enhance the Emirate of Sharjah’s position on the global tourism map, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, for the eleventh consecutive year, is organising the Sharjah Light Festival (SLF), from February 2 to 19, 2023. This festival is the most prominent event on the Emirate’s agenda.

It highlights the masterpieces of the Islamic architectural heritage in Sharjah, and attracts thousands of visitors from inside and outside the country.

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority organizes this exceptional event, unique and the first of its kind in the region and the Middle East, in February annually.

Displays of light blend with international music and colors, in amazing harmony, on the facades of the most prominent architectural monuments of the emirate. The audience will enjoy being transported to new horizons of creativity that reflects Sharjah’s rich trove of culture, architecture, art and heritage.

A range of locations are carefully selected to host the light shows, these edifices are distinguished by the beauty of their architectural details, so that light and music can transform the usual scene into another imagining, relying on modern and energy-saving lighting techniques, which play a vital role in presenting these picturesque shows. The facades of the buildings are meticulously detailed with light into a mosaic of colors that celebrate the rich history and heritage of this emirate.

This unique experience that transforms the city into an amazing blend of colors and music captures the admiration of the audience, as light technologies are used in innovative ways that not only add beauty, but also take the audience on a journey to another world far from the every day, often encompassing the distant past. At other times, spectators are carried on a journey to the world of the future.

The Sharjah Light Festival tells the story of the emirate’s development and prosperity and highlights its most iconic landmarks. Over the days of the festival, a feeling of pride in Sharjah, its landmarks, squares and ancient heritage takes centre stage.

The emirate hosts the well-known international artists who have excelled in adapting light and music to present the most beautiful and attractive modern light shows, highlighting the rich components of Sharjah and its splendid landmarks. The light shows vary according to the landmarks they cover, inviting the audience to rediscover these landmarks and places anew.
